THE POSITIONAL PREDICATES: PARAMETERS OF IDENTIFICATION

One of the most important tasks of modern linguistics is classification of predicates. This problem leads to another, no less important problem, which the present article is about – to define the principles of semantic classification, to highlight the features that make it possible to describe the nature of the predicates under examination. This approach allows us to foreground in this work basic semantic and syntactic features that single out positional predicates and differentiate them from action and stative predicates.
