The article presents the first study dedicated to the influence of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s «Crime and Punishment» (1866) on Paul Auster’s works. Auster’s literary career has started with «Crime and Punishment». Though Dostoevsky’s influence on Auster has not ever been discussed, we think that it is considerable not only in his early writings, but still accompanies him
