“THE CLUTCH LABYRINTH“: A MANICHEAN MYSTERY IN A CHILDREN'S SONG AND GOGOL'S PHYTOSEMANTICS
Keywords:
N.V. Gogol, motive, Manichaeism, ritual, folklore, phytosemanticsAbstract
The article examines possible reasons for the juxtaposition of two motives in the works of N.V. Gogol – the phytosemantic motive and the motive of family kinship, offspring, and fertility. The phytosemantic motive, associated with the motive of fertility, has its own specifics. Its representatives are references to garden crops: pumpkin, watermelon, cucumber, etc. This strange connection may go back to Manichaean ideas or ritual magic.
