PHILOSOPHY OF THE NAME: FROM NAME-CENTRISM TO PREDICATЕ-CENTRISM

Abstract

The philosophy of the name is a set of views on the language, united around the concept of the name. The base of the philosophy of the name was the fact-centric picture of the world, in which the things themselves dominated over the relationship between them. The philosophy of the name as a research paradigm is identified as the forerunner of the philosophy of the predicate (predicate-centrism), whose basis is not the facts themselves but the relationship between them. From this perspective the philosophy of the name anticipated the basic theoretical provisions of predicate-centrism and laid the foundations for the evolution of research views on the language as per the principle “name-centrism-predicate-centrism-semantics-centrism”
