METAPHORICAL VOCABULARY UNITS AND PHRASES IN MILITARY DISCOURSE

Metaphorical nomination is a characteristic typological feature of informational military texts. Simultaneously, it serves as system-forming means of their organization. The functional purpose of the information genre of military texts is effectively achieved today through metaphorical use of lexical units in free phrases, as well as in thematic groups of military vocabulary. The study of metaphorical nomination can be of great importance for language training of military translators, as well as for enhancing competent communication within the realm of professional military activities.
