HEAVENLY BODIES AND EPITHETS TO THEM

Abstract

The article analyzes the features of the use of epithets for heavenly bodies: star, sky/heaven, moon/month, sun – in the poetic text of V.Ya. Bryusov. The data obtained by the continuous sampling method contribute to deepening knowledge about the characteristics and features of the units that nominate  heavenly space in the language of poetry. An important object research in linguistic stylistics is an epithet, one of the oldest and most effective stylistic devices. The epithet introduces the author’s individual assessment of the subject being described, his attitude towards it, the emotions experienced by the author in connection with it. The semantic and morphological-syntactic characteristics of epithets of  heavenly bodies in the poetry of V.Ya. Bryusov are considered.
