Abstract

The article examines the connection between the fate of the hero of M. Sholokhov's story and the fate of our former great country during the Great Patriotic War. It՛s shown that in the image of one person, Sholokhov embodied the image of the Motherland, which, like Sokolov, found itself in a hellfire of failures and successes, losses and progress, which together carve out the phenomenon called Victory. Due to the change of political orientations in our society, attempts are being made to question the political and artistic truth of the story, but the Victory of the Soviet people is the only Truth, a reality that can only be believed. This is a victory of the country, and it was a success because the country basically consisted from Sokolovs. The story is written with such artistic skill and ideological impulse that it leaves the impression of a great epic work.
