Abstract

In the article, the «external» musicality of fiction is understood as a characteristic of musical works, which serves as an objective illustration of the era, social and everyday life. «Internal» musicality arises as a result of similarity between music and literature. In artistic prose there is an interesting and subtle edge of the transition of  «external» musicality in «internal». The remarkable musical pages of many works of Russian classics are culminating in the description of a sudden love, sometimes not yet realized by the heroes. Tolstoy, Goncharov, Turgenev's novels include musical scenes and episodes that have important plot, characterological and psychological properties. However, a fully musical novel with all its inherent properties could be created only in the paradigm of romanticism. One such notable example was a novel by George Sand's La Dernière Aldini (1838). Music, singing, voice play a primary role in it, determining the composition, plot development, typology of characters, their speech portraits up to the rhythm of phrases.
