CHUCK PALAHNIUK: THE LIMITS OF ADAPTATION AND THE LOGIC OF INTERNAL CINEMA

This article examines the interaction between Chuck Palahniuk’s prose and cinema, considering both realized adaptations and unrealized or potential film projects, as well as identifying cinematic principles structurally embedded in his texts. Particular attention is given to “Fight Club” as a key case of adaptation, compared with less coherent or unrealized versions. The study argues that the boundary between filmed and unfilmed cinema in Palahniuk’s work is fundamentally unstable, as his prose functions as a form of internal cinema, structured through principles of montage, visual organization, and effects of presence.
