PIGEON STORIES IN THE WORKS OF VAHAN TOTOVENTS AND VASILY BORAKHVOSTOV

A parallel is drawn between the writers Vahan Totovents (1893-1938?) and Vasily Borakhvostov (1905-1988), who were not acquainted, and Totovents, most likely, did not even know about the Borakhvostov existence, while the latter happened to review the first Totovents' book translated into Russian, Life on the Ancient Roman Road (1931), in the literary magazine Krasnaya Nov’. Regardless of the difference between the Armenian and Cossack cultures, there is a thematic overlap in the unrelated work of these writers, expressed in a deeply lyrical description of the passion for pigeon breeding that was once widespread everywhere.
