FEATURES OF THE RHYTHM OF THE PROSE OF “ANNA KARENINA” BY L. N. TOLSTOY

The rhythm of prose has become the subject of active attention of Russian and foreign researchers. Such studies allow us to revise fundamentally the theory and the history of prose. However, it is necessary to identify the specifics of the prose texts of different authors. In the discussion of the works of L. N. Tolstoy, starting with their first readers, issues of content came to the fore, and much less often the problems of poetics were discussed. The article analyzes some features of the rhythm of the novel "Anna Karenina" and reveals the principles of dynamic deployment of rhythm in such a unit of text as an episode. A complex changes of rhythms are associated with the psychological characteristics of the characters and form the structure of the novel; subjugates the reader and determines an important quality of Tolstoy's prose – its suggestiveness.
