Abstract

The article examines common mistakes in teaching Russian syntax to translators of a humanities university (using a business letter as an example). It is determined that the importance of teaching syntax to translators of a humanities university should cover all levels of language proficiency within the written language. It is noted that when composing a business letter, a translator should not only be guided by the information presented, but also take into account the peculiarities of the documentation, comply with the basic requirements of the standards and stylistic rules of the language into which the text is being translated. It is concluded that teaching the syntax of business letters to translators should be focused on solving the main tasks: taking into account the specifics of syntactic constructions of Russian business letters, analysis of the lexical composition of the syntactic construction, lexical compatibility, rules of design within the framework of a phrase, sentence, text, analysis of the structure of a business letter as a whole, their differences in the original and translated versions, assimilation of clear standards of writing, formulations and cliches with analysis in theory and in practice, focusing on the systematic structure of a business letter, its semantic content and the adequacy of the choice of certain linguistic means of translating syntactic constructions.
